Whatever it is,
the way you tell your story
will be the right way
WHAT TO EXPECT
So you’ve made the consultation! Great! Are you you nervous? It’s ok to be! But I promise I don’t bite. Starting with a new therapist can be dauting. I will be a new person in your life, one you may believe you have to tell your deepest darkest secrets to. Well, you don’t. We will go at the pace you are comfortable with. You will share what you feel you can share and I will be there to support you in every step. Consultation calls are a great time to see if there is a good therapeutic vibe. If there isn’t, that’s, if there is, great! We can get started! What are some things that we’ll chat about in those 15 mins? We will discuss:
1. Why You're Reaching Out
Your current concerns, symptoms, or goals
What’s bringing you to therapy now
Past therapy experiences (what worked, what didn’t)
2. My Therapeutic Approach
How I work (e.g., modalities like CBT, DBT, somatic, Sensate Focus)
My experiences
What a typical session might look like
3. Logistics
Availability and scheduling
Fees, insurance, sliding scale options
Session length and format
4. Q&A
You can ask anything! Common questions:
“How do you handle conflict or rupture in the therapeutic relationship?”
“What’s your experience with [specific issue, identity, or population]?”
“How do you track progress over time?”
5. Next Steps
At the end, we will both decide:
Do we feel aligned?
Is this the right time and container for this work?
If not, I may offer referrals or other resources.
